WHO WE ARE
Heroic Hearts Project UK (HHPUK) is an organisation that connects military and emergency services veterans struggling with mental trauma to psychedelic therapy retreats around the world. These veterans typically have tried all the available resources offered by the NHS and other veterans' charities with limited success, leaving them with very few options. We are raising awareness within the veteran and emergency services’ communities of powerful plant therapies like psychedelics, with the aim of ending society’s excessive dependence on pharmaceuticals to treat mental traumas.
Originally set up for US war veterans over three years ago, the UK arm of Heroic Hearts only launched in March of this year. Despite still being in our infancy, we are looking to grow awareness of who we are and what we offer rapidly, as the so-called ‘psychedelic renaissance’ continues to gather momentum.
We are on the hunt for an enthusiastic intern to help us improve and develop our UK website built using Wix.com, as we move towards HHPUK gaining official charitable status in the new year. You will need to have a drive for quality web design, natural creative flair and passion for content creation. You will be joining a close-knit team of passionate individuals who care deeply and personally for the cause, so it is really important that anyone joining us is aligned with our goals around driving cultural change through drug policy reform and tackling the stigma around psychedelics. Responsible for the management of our website and ongoing updates using Wix.com web design and build tool.
Work closely with the core HHPUK team to establish quick fixes to existing website, suggesting improvements to copy, content and user journey.
Help the core team to develop ideas for new content.
Support with new content creation.
Help to ensure that the website is consistent with our branding, working with our Marketing Director to establish new guidelines where applicable.
Keeping abreast of the latest design, content trends and any updates to Wix tool specifically.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Experience using Wix.com web design and build tool.
Good knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite – particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
The ability to communicate ideas quickly and efficiently to the core HHPUK team.
Strong typographic and layout skills.
Good timekeeping skills and ability to stick to deadlines.
Self-disciplined and organised, with the ability to come up with new ideas for improving the user journey and website content.
Basic knowledge (or interest in developing knowledge) of SEO.
Up to date with popular culture and social trends.
Excellent knowledge of psychedelic research and drug policy news.
English speaking essential.
NB: this is NOT a paid position, but strictly voluntary as we are a not-for-profit organisation. Therefore the ideal candidate might be a university student or individual looking to gain experience within the psychedelic therapy world.
